From Darkness into a Bright Future - 03.03.2019

This section of the Bible is a weird section of Scripture. Abram is almost ninety years old in this story and he's about to get more than he can imagine. In fact, this is a making of a covenant. In verse 18, “The LORD made a covenant with Abram”. Covenant means a pact, an agreement, a deal, a testament. God made a covenant with Abram, one that he could understand but it was solely based upon God doing the work. Abram really didn't have a part to perform except to observe and receive it, a covenant sealed in blood that was shed. Today, our covenant is based on an even more sacred bloodline, for it was the shed blood of Jesus Christ, God in human flesh that enables us to have an eternal covenant and because Jesus died on the cross, we will never perish.
