Sermon Series: Growing Useful Character

Growing Useful Character, Part 2: Resilience to be Useful, Overcome What Is Hard - Sunday, August 8, 2021

Pastor Paul Harmon
Resilience is that ineffable quality that allows some people to be knocked down by life and come back stronger than ever. Rather than letting failure or hardship overcome them and drain their resolve, they find a way to rise from the ashes. Without resiliency, our faith and following of Jesus will not be strong. It will be sporadic – inconsistent – maybe even temporary. We all know those who have walked away from Jesus. We must develop a resilient faith...a faith that can endure whatever this life throws at us. Today we find out HOW?

Sermon Series: Growing Useful Character

Please do not misunderstand anything here. God loves us unconditionally regardless of effort or usefulness. This isn’t about how much God loves us. It’s about being useful to God for Kingdom work and responsibility. The less disciplined we are the less God can use us. WHY? Because you’ve never learned to tell yourself no to lesser things so you can say yes to greater things. This is the essence of growing useful Character. I tell myself I will do what is right and good so I can do something of greater value.
