What I Have Learned from Nuestros Hermanos - Sunday, September 21, 2025

Pastor Jared Mueller
From our 11 years serving in Latin America, I’ve learned transformative lessons for living and sharing the Gospel, answering the question, “why has the Lord brought us back to Huntington Beach in this season?” I have learned that hospitality is a key in ministry, reflecting Christ’s self-emptying love (Philippians 2:4-7), welcoming strangers (Hebrews 13:2), and embracing hospitable leadership (Titus 1:7-8; 1 Timothy 3:2-3). I’ve found that less is more, as contentment with simplicity fosters godliness (1 Timothy 6:6-8), prioritizing spiritual over material wealth, helping us to focus on what is important. Prayer is more than an act for me—it’s a lifestyle, inspired by Jesus’ example (Luke 3:21-22, 6:12-13, 9:18) and marked by a grateful heart and job (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). I’ve learned the passion of Latin America in worship and life, like David’s exuberant worship (2 Samuel 6:13-14, 22), is contagious, but should be balanced from extremes that lean towards religiosity’s hypocrisy (Matthew 23:1-7). Finally, I learned to question the urgency that surrounds us, forming values based priorities (Philippians 4:4-7). These lessons from "nuestros hermanos" have marked my life and will help us to serve Hope Chapel in our new tenure as pastors.
