Sermon Series: Making Functioning Followers

Tentmakers & Disciplemakers - Sunday, October 4, 2026

Pastor David Loo
We tend to save discipleship for the people with ministry titles — the pastors, the missionaries, the ones with the dramatic stories. But what about the rest of us? What about the same job, the same carpool line, the same coworkers we've had for five years? In Acts 18, two tentmakers named Priscilla and Aquila show us that God doesn't wait for a title or a platform to make disciples — He uses the trade, the home, and the relationships we already have. Faith without works is dead, and discipleship isn't something that happens to other people, in other places. It's something that happens in the room we're already in.

Sermon Series: Making Functioning Followers

Jesus’ Great Commission calls every believer to more than simply believing in Him—it calls us to become His disciples and make disciples. Following Jesus means being with Him, becoming more like Him, being part of His Church, joining His mission, and helping others follow Him. As we begin our new series, Making Functioning Followers, we will explore what it truly means to live as an apprentice of Jesus. Our goal is not simply to gain more biblical knowledge, but to become functioning followers who live out what Jesus taught and help others do the same.
