Sermon Series: Come Follow Me

Pray Like Jesus Did - Sunday, May 31, 2026

Pastor Jared Mueller
As we close this series “Come Follow Me” seeking to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as apprentices, we finish with where everything in the life of Jesus began, in prayer. The disciples of Jesus recognized something powerful and significant in His prayer life, which is why they asked him, “Lord, teach us to pray,” Luke 11:1. We will look at that “what” of prayer, through the book of Luke. What were the results of Jesus prayer life, and consequently, what can we expect to see as we pray?

Sermon Series: Come Follow Me

Being a Christian is often seen as subscribing to a set of beliefs or adopting certain doctrinal statements. Although this is an important part of our faith life, it is just one aspect of it. The word Christian was first used in Antioch for followers of “the Way.” Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). That means that in order to follow Him, we do not only believe certain tenants correctly (the Truth), but we are called to adopt His way of life (the Way). We could effectively use the term disciple, apprentice of, or follower of Jesus as proper synonyms for “Christian.” Jesus interacted with each one of His disciples and said, “Come follow me.” As Christians, He continues to call us today to do the same.
